Hi I have an eglu and walk in run . Can you please give me some tips about the winter . How do they cope with heavy rain/snow ?
I was wondering if I need to provide shelter of some sort as the coop is on the ground. Where do they go to stay dry ?
Thanks

I have an Eglu classic and an Eglu cube with extended run. I use a clear tarp or a clear shower curtain to give mine shelter from the weather. The cube run is roofed with clear corrugated plastic. When the weather is severe I use tarp/shower curtains on the side of the run. Everything is held in place with those long hooked stretchy bungee cords.

Of course, you could always use a couple of strategically placed straw bales to give them shelter from side winds too, but it's very important to have dry scratching ground at all times and wet underfoot is not good for the girls. :)
