Anyone with experience of chicken manure and wormeries?

Thinking of buying a wormery....

I was thinking of 'feeding' part-rotted chicken compost to the worms, but worries that it might be too strong.

At the moment the bedding goes into a seperate bin until the bin is full, then and is mixed with garden compost every few months.

Any experience?

my sister had a wormery and it seemed to require quite a delicate balance of stuff going in to make it work properly. the best advice is to speak directly to the supplier as you don't want to put it in and kill all of the worms off.

I don't know, but we have two composters and we put all our vegetable waste in there, plus the soiled chicken bedding (chopped maize straw and faeces). Every time I open the lid it is hoaching with worms and bugs. It was never that thriving until we had the chickens.

Thanks for the replies. The supplier website warns against putting fresh chicken manure in but says rotted stuff is ok, so hopefully will be fine - I'll start off with just a handful at a time and see how it goes.

I've heard it can be tricky to get the wormery working really well so I'm hoping this isn't another expensive way to save money.
