Have kept chickens for 2 years now and they were snatched a few months back in a fox attack. We have just decided to get some more as our dd1(3) is still heart broken about them disappearing. I have been told its better to keep 3 than 2 but can't find any evidence to back this up. I would like 3 but dh only wants two as he says the last two were fine. Anyone help me out with any actual evidence that 3 is better? Grin

Three is better than two because if one gets ill/dies then you won't be left with one on its own. Chickens don't like to be alone Grin

Three. In my experience chickens die randomly. I think the idea is that if you have three you don't leave one on their own if one of them should meet their maker. Anyway, more chickens is always better!

I was only meant to get three mind you...and we've got ten...so I might not be the best person to ask Grin
