What do you put in the hen house?

My girls have staw, but not sure if this is the best - its just what my mm always did!

I put aubiose down but my cockerel likes to sleep on straw.

Newspaper with dust extracted woodshavings on top. I use newspaper and straw in the cold weather

Home shredded paper in nest boxes and sawdust on poop tray.

Wood shavings, used to be straw but the hens just kick it all out to scrap about in. They now have straw sprinkled over their area as 'enrichment'. .

Newspaper lining the tray (with woodchips on top) and nestboxes (with straw on top).

Sometimes it depends on how big the cocks plumage is depends on other chickens interactions...
