plastic vs wood - red mite issues

Please help me decide on a coop. If I go for a wooden house is red mite going to plague me. How much extra hours of cleaning a week is it going to be? If I go for a plastic house is it going to be less clearning?

The advantges for wood is that I cam have an automatic door opener which would be easire for finding people to look after the chickens when we go away - plus they look nicer BUT am I going to regreting it when I am itchy and my girls are plagued with horrid insects?

We have a wooden hen house and have had mites twice in 18months. This is only because one of our very annoying lovely chucks has gone broody twice and has spent time sitting in there. If you want wood I would go for it as they are brilliant. Hth

We have wood and 18m on no issues, I dusted it weekly and the birds twice monthly in the early months and now do them both alternate months, our girls dustbath every day and we use our own dusty shredded paper in boxes and under roosting bars, rm hate dusty areas :o
