Stupid question about creosote and coops

Right, read in chook book about creosoting coops to stop mites. But when I search wickes etc with the word creosote, it just comes up with a lot of timber care products. It there a particular product to buy?. Also, I have painted the outside, should I paint over that? Or could I just getaway with the inside? Ta in advance :)

Can't help with preventing mites, but creosote has been banned in the UK since 2003.

Alternative treatments.

Creosote is still available but only in industrial or professional setting, i.e. you can't get it down the DIY shop anymore and it now only comes in big pots. So, if you really want to get hold of some you probably could but you'd need to know the right people, e.g. landscape companies etc.
