well the title says it all really, but did want to share and it is a blatant boast, but fellow chicken keepers the pride from the early days is amazing isn't it?

We are complete novices and yesterday we inherited our arc and run as well as from a different place a cockerel and hen and we added to it with two 'black rocks' - we did not have the luxury of keeping them separate for a while so it being a neutral new home, we just at dusk introduced them all, day one they all seemed fine but we did not let them free range, but they have been spoilt with corn, oyster shell, laying pellets, scraps and lots of attention from all of us...so this morning we were all DS 2.5 particularly, delighted to find two eggs and through the day we kept checking (and not expecting to find) and by 4 pm we had 5 eggs...proud and very excited about this kick start to our hen keeping journey...

A question to end my ramblings? I/we are not confident on picking them up? And would love them to become quite tame/familiar with us? Any tips welcome...?

Yeah to super layers.

I gather and fuss mine when they are roosting in the evening and encourage them to hand feed treats like corn, dried mealworms, cooked pasta, garden worms, bread.
