I'm all smiley cos my new girls have just arrived! Been about a year since I lost my last flock to a fox (my own silly fault for not locking the gate securely.) And now for the first time I've got ex battery girls. Dh collected them this afternoon while I was working and i can't stop going out to look at them and get to know them. They do look a bit bedraggled, pale and, well ........battered, but i hope they will love their new home and perk up quickly.
There's five of them so I'm thinking Pride and Prejudice - Jane, Elizabeth, Lydia, Kitty - and was it 'Mary' the middle one?? Guess that makes me mrs bennett - mm.
Just waved my to dcs (aged 24 and 20) off on hols to Australia for 3 weeks this morning so my new girls are the perfect distraction to fill my empty nest!

It's so exciting isn't it?
We got our first chicken the other day and we are loving having her :)
Looking into getting a companion for her.
How did your girls settle in?
