Help - what do I do?

Broody hen only hatched one chick from nine eggs. All was well until the chick was found dead today . We left the door of the broody coop open and the hen wandered off but has returned to the coop to sleep and is in there with the chick. We didn't take it away - should we have done? What should I do now?

I hate it when these things happen. Remove the chick and put the hen back with the other chickens.

How are other things on the smallholding ?

Agree with Miss. remove the chick as soon as you can. Its a shame but these things do happen. better luck next time.

Things are great otherwise thanks. Have two girl geese and six pigs. Veg patch coming along well.
