As you'll know two of our girls died last week, we'd like to get some more eventually but unsure where from/how.
Our first three were ex batts but I was very upset when they died and my dh just can't face the upset of having more at the mo (even though i know often they live a lot longer)
Our other two came from a lovely family off here who were moving and are just fab (if a little bonkers-but thats because we are too!)
So our chickens have always found us before and we would like to do the same again but so far no luck.
pre loved and gum tree just seem to have breeders on there which just isnt what I want. And my dh had suggested a bird auction but i worry we wouldn't know anything about there age etc...and they could again be breeders.
Any ideas?Where did you get yours from?
As you can tell we want them to lay eggs but they are also pets!

we have 'rescued' some from freecycle before. i felt i was helping the hens but not benefiting the breeders

(we also have ex batts)

Hi Chickchickchicken!Your are becoming my chicken mentor! :) Our freecycle doesn't allow animals. . . . may just have to lave it a while...but I am getting tempted by ex batts again. :)
