when will we get eggs?

i got my chucks at point of lay so around17-18 weeks we have now had then for 3 weeks this sunday when can we expect our first eggs?

anytime from now til about 26 weeks is best bet

Are they crouching yet? Once they start crouching down when you go near them, eggs are usually seen within a fortnight :)

No, they sort of squat when you approach and stick their wings out. It's quite distinctive. They do it because it's the mating position, and they think you're the cockerel. Once they start crouching, it means they're sexually mature and will start laying any day :)

This time of year is a nightmare, because my pure breeds have come back in to lay and are feeling, erm, frisky. They fling themselves in front of me when I'm taking the washing outside to hang and many a hen has nearly become a living slipper Grin

Mine too chickens!

Op you will also notice red faces, bigger combs and wattles and possibly q change in leg colour!
