Well we turned up to the Little hens rescue wanting 4 and maybe a cock and came away with 6 and a huge old boy. The boy is being introduced to my existing girls as the exbats are too weak.
I am not going to ask my family for help naming pets
ever again though as we have ended up with

Ernest
Happy
Princess Aurora
Daisy
Bobetta
Jemima
and Kicken Didder

That's hilarious Bronze. Love the names, especially Princess Aurora! Hope they all settle in well. I'd love to get some ex batts but my hubby would not be impressed! Do they have much in the way of feathers?

lovely names

all mine are ex batts and its very rewarding to see them flourish and learn to enjoy being able to follow their natural instincts wreck garden foraging all day. it really is a wonderful experience to witness their joy of discovering a whole new life. i've got more attached to mine than i ever thought possible

amount of feathers varies when you rehome them. we always end up taking at least one very pathetic looking one with the least feathers and they usually end up being the boss

Aww, well done. Loving the names, esp Kicken Didder! I have 5 ex-batts and a '2nd hand' silkie. All my brown girls have old ladies' names.

I know what you mean about going over your 'target' though...I went to collect a rabbit today from a rescue and came home with another guinea pig to boot. Whoops! That's 8 piggies now, 6 chooks and 7 cats. Oh, and the rabbit, of course.

sigh

Princess Aurora was my dds choice. In fact she wanted just Princess but in honour of the northern lights happening the weekend we got them.
Kicken Didder was my 22 mth old who is obsessed with diggers. Sadly Bobetta was my husband... what can I say.
They're lovely girls and settling in well.
We didn't get the worst ones as we were getting Ernest too, even though they're not in together he could stress them.
It will be nice when they can freerange with my other girls but they will have to be completely healthy by then because of Ernest (he was my choice of name continuing my theme of naming after relatives)

One of mine is called Doris after my Nan. :) I thought about calling one of the others Joan, after my Grandma, but she'd not long died and I didn't want to upset my Mum Confused, so I have Mavis, Florence, Gladys & Beryl. The silkie was called Black when we got her, which I thought was quite pants TBH, so we call her Blackie. Though for some reason DD calls her 'Cocky'/ Which will now be confusing as the new guinea pig is called Cookie. Hmm

Lol, I thought Kicken Didder was a LO's 'chicken dinner'. Though why I found that funny, I don't know, as it would be quite disrespectful the the chooks!! And me a vegan, too Blush
