nesting box

I use straw in my Eglu nesting box but over the past few weeks my 3 chickens have emptied it all so it falls beneath the rooster bars and the box is empty. I therefore have to re fill it each day, they all still lay each day- but has anyone any suggestions as to why they empty it or an alternative to the straw??

Thanks, but how do you manage to wash it every day??! and what if they need to lay when it is in the wash ? Have you an Eglu?

We have five cushions and no, not an Eglu, one of these

Cushion!!! How about an old newspaer?

Put a bit of newspaper underneath then put the straw on top. Works for us!
