Sorry for the pointless thread but I am SO excited and no-one else seems to share my glee.

Grin How many so far?

It's so thrilling isn't it - I remember my first blue egg, I skipped round the garden Grin

It's 7 years later now and both the girls are dead but I remember that feeling. I must get some more chooks - they were so funny.

Grockle · 15/10/2010 17:39

TWO!

We've had them for 2 weeks and nothing but we came home to fine 2 in the next box. Two perfect little eggs. Have saved them for breakfast!

How will I know who laid them?

DS was even more thrilled than I was. He shrieked with joy and insists we cannot eat the eggs Grin

You'll have to guess! But you will find one of them on the nest box one day and then you'll know - listen out for the squawking they do when they're 'busy' Wink

Ours are colour coded...pale ones for the light sussex, medium for the Rhode Island and really dark with spots on for the marans.

The legbar hasn't started yet - hers will apparently be green or blue! Ours took about 4 months to start laying, so you are doing well. Grin

Oh even better.

These 2 are exactly the same size and similar colours so I wonder if it is the 2 sussex hens who laid (one silver & one white). My columbia blacktail seems a bit more immature. I shall stalk them over the weekend to see who's doing the business Grin

that is my interested nose against the window and a bit jealous face.

I lurked here for ages. I've wanted chickens for years. They are SO fab, I love them!

Sorry!

If it makes you feel any better, they poo EVERYWHERE and are rather noisy!
