tell me about moulting - do they lose ALL their feathers?!

my Sussex is moulting, my 2 hybrids not. She seems to still be laying.
will they do it too soon?

We have a few that moult every year, one of which seems to lose most of her feathers all at once, the others look patchy for 2 or 3 weeks.
We have an old hybrid (5 years-ish) who is in the middle of her first (noticable) moult, and she looks terrible!
I think some do it quite quietly, and you don't really notice a difference, then all of a sudden, they look beautiful.

ah so the hybrids may not - they are all new this year.
I look forward to my Sussex looking pretty again!
