I love my hens!

We've had our girls for just over two weeks now and they are wonderful! I love watching them pecking about in the garden and they are just so calming and soothing (and funny). To see the poor ex-batts find out what it means to be a "proper hen" is really uplifting. If only everyone could see this, battery farms would be history. They have added a lot to our quality of life. I am recommending hens to everyone!

Grin I came on here to start a thread with the same name! We've had ours for a week & I adore them - I love getting them up in the morning & the kids like putting them to 'bed'. They get tamer every day & we've had three lovely eggs everyday since we got them :)

My girls are brilliant, they run when called and squat with their wings in so that we can gently stroke their backs. My kids wouldn't ever consider a battery egg or roast chicken now - they were horrified when we discussed how battery hens are kept in a cage the size of an A4 piece of paper. Oh, and they bully our cat too Wink

yep, it really is uplifting, isn't it?

according to a woman I know (of)(well, i've met her once), who owns a battery farm "they are happy and healthy" "they are warm so they don't need feathers" and other such bollocks that enraged me.

I'm happy that you've given your a second life - beware - ex-batts are the most attention-seeking little madams you'll ever have the leasure to know Grin
