Can hens and ducks live together?

Want to get some ducks and they will have their own housing but I don't want to cordon off any more of the garden.
Can they live together or will it be flying feather war?

I have a neigbour who has two chickens and one duck, and they co-exist just fine! I remember her saying something about ducks needing more space, but they have a small enclosure anyway (well i consider it small, it could be huge in comparison to others for all i know).

Its a bit of a strange set-up, since they view the chickens as future food and the duck purely as a pet, but I dont think the animals take that into consideration

I've also been looking on you tube and there seems to be quite a few people who keep ducks and chickens together.
Quite handy in a way as the chickens like the corn and the ducks prefer the wheat!

I've got a large space so I've now just got to get hold of an incubator and start hatching
