I’m after a used small suv car. Can’t afford brand new but want to move over to electric. Any suggestions? Thank you

Well it partly depends on what sort of mileage you’re going to do and how much space you need in the back, but I recommend a Nissan Leaf, really good value.

You will find people telling you not to buy one because they use Chademo chargers, usually people who have never owned one. If you mostly charge at home then it isn’t a problem, and I have still managed to charge in the wild without too much problem.

I love my Leaf, really fun to drive and very safe. After my first one was written off following a motorway collision, I bought another one because I was so impressed with how it had protected me.

Thank you. I did see a leaf for sale at a car sales earlier. I want it slightly bigger than my current fiesta. I do about 8000 miles a year.

How many miles do you do each journey? That will affect the at you want to buy. The leaf doesn’t do many miles to a charge.
I’ve got a cupra born and love it. Does around 200 miles to a full charge.

@Blueuggbootsideally I would love a cupra but out of my budget. Looking for something for about 10k. I do short journeys of about 10 miles everyday

You'd get a Citroen eC4 for that budget. I've got a Peugeot which is very similar in many ways.

VW ID3 (early ones might be in budget)
Gen 2 Nissan Leaf
VW e-Golf
BMW i3 (this is what I would get — great fun to drive, small on the outside big on the inside)

All of these should work. With lots of short-ish journeys an electric car should suit you really well.

I have an e208. We got it second hand. It is really fun to drive and quite speedy. It doesn’t have the biggest battery, but it is fine for our needs. The battery lasts about a week in winter and two in summer being used for commuting to the station and shopping.

We bought it online from Car360 which specialises in second hand EVs. It was delivered to our house and the condition was as advertised. I’d use them again.

I had a Hyundai ioniq before that….they do around 140 miles to a charge…
lovely car!! Around £7-10k

I changed to the Cupra as I do 50-70 miles a day so needed more miles but loved my ioniq premium SE.

I wanted to swap my petrol mini for an ev mini but 27k was just too much. So I went for a 2 year old cupra born with 12k on the clock for 22k
