Rear ended someone and im so worried and scared

I was driving down a country lane one that I have been driving everyday since last year, the road is 60 I was doing about 50, the csr infront of me stopped suddenly because the car infront of him stopped suddenly and as soon as I saw his break lights I pushed my foot so hard on the break but the car didn't slow down in time and I hit the back of the car very hard, my car is damaged and will be a write off, there was a lady passanger in the back of the car and she was injured she hurt her neck and couldn't move it properly, the ambulance and police came, did a breathalyser which was 0, took my details ans said they would be in touch if they needed anything else.But im feeling so guilty for the women they took her to hospital to be assessed she got out of thr car with help ans they put her in the ambulance with a red box thing round her head, I cant sleep properly or eat much and I just keep replying over and over in my mind , im so worried about her ans I dont even know how she is, and I dont know what's going to happen to me with the police, and im also scared to drive again

She walked from the car. It's probably just whiplash. Stop worrying!

Well yeah she got out of the car with help but yeah I'll try to stop worrying so much

The passenger will be fine OP. Accidents like this happen every day. Your priority is to find a new car asap, because car hire is expensive. Everyone will move on from this, and it’ll just be a distant memory and higher premium for a few years.

I'm going to repeat this advice: Get Some Therapy. It will be paid for by your insurance company. Tell them you are having replays, nervous about driving, not sleeping properly, crying about the accident, going over and over all of it in your mind.

If you don't it could very well start replaying in your mind again in a few years and then will be worse. Then you will have to pay for it yourself. Please take my advice and just contact your insurers again. It has happened to me many years later and I was the passenger!

It won't be paid for as she's at fault. Insurers don't pay for treatment for the at fault party.

Yes of course it will. That’s the point of comprehensive insurance. OPs premium may well go up and she may have to pay an excess but she’ll be covered.

Try not to worry too much. No one actually died . This happened to someone I know and the passenger did get whiplash and sued . Their premium went up . That was about the height of it . Honestly it’s not that bad . It could have been so much worse . At least no one was badly injured

Yeah I know it could of been worse, but im just feeling so bad for the other passanger who got injured, and I reqllt hope she is okay I hope her injury wasent serious or anything like that, its going to take me a long time to overcome the guilt I think, but hopefully in time I will feel better, and the passanger will recover quickly too

Dont worry OP, someone went into the back of me recently (I was stopped at traffic lights!!), I was injured but it's just one of those things unfortunately

I know and you have had a terrible shock . Anyone would be feeling the same . I’ve been in a few car crashes myself over the years as a passenger .

Yes it does, but your insurer sorts it.

You were the passenger so you claimed on the driver's insurance as they were to blame - OP is the driver, she can't claim

If it’s any consolation I was in a car crash where the police crashed straight into the car I was in and it was their fault ! Luckily no one was badly injured but they easily could have been.

The police? Omg was they in a rush or was they just driving normal like other cars

You were an innocent passenger. The fault driver can’t claim for treatment

They were driving up the wrong side of the road with no siren on to get to another crash which was further on. There were several witnesses because there was a load of traffic. We hit another car which hit a wall and missed a pedestrian by about a half a meter .

Goodness, I doubt very much the lady's family will hate you. It was an accident. The red thing around her head/neck is standard for anyone feeling neck pain. Someone crashed into my elderly mum a few years ago & she had to go to hospital. Once I knew she was going to be fine I contacted the driver & let him know. We certainly didn't have any ill will towards him & my mum's car was a write off! Try not to stress & remember it was an accident.
