Current favourite is Kia Sportage, mainly for comfortable seats. Also looking at Volvo XC30, VW Tiguan or Hyndi Tuscon.

Kids are young adults but we sometimes all go out together, mainly DH and me. Help?

I’ve just ordered a Jaecoo… they’re still new to the market but I have spoken to people who have them and reviews were good. 7 year warranty and it was a lovely test drive.

MrHouse13 · 01/03/2026 10:20

We looked at them along with CHERRY, bit unsure due to how new they are and will the value drop quickly.

Loved my Tuscon. We have a peugeot 3008 now which is great but after sitting in the back seat yesterday between my two adult sized teens I can confirm the Tuscon was roomier in the back!

Be careful re insurance on those new Chinese vehicles, many insurers won’t touch them. Have a Google…even those who will insure it’s very expensive.

With that budget I would go for a second hand Volvo xc60…

Glittertwins · 01/03/2026 12:45

Volvo XC40 or 60, Skoda Kodiaq.

whallaloadofbollocks · 01/03/2026 18:16

I read this too- @247SylviaPlathbut I did a quote on my new car - Jaecoo (versus my current 12 year old one which is of very low value!) and I found a number of insurers willing to insure and it’s only a few quid more per month.

Shade17 · 01/03/2026 18:46

Are you looking at new or used? I’d look no further than a Lexus NX or Toyota Rav 4.

MakeMineAMilkyTea · 01/03/2026 19:09

Love my Honda crv. 6ft 2 14yr old fits in the back very comfortably 🤣

sanityisamyth · 01/03/2026 19:17

Not sure a puma counts but I love mine so much.

We've just been stung for £1,200 for a new clutch in our 2025 Puma (7k miles) Although i did love it, i'm not feeling it atm 🤔

TheArtfulScreamer1 · 01/03/2026 19:36

I'm on my second Honda CRV after I killed my first in a collision. They are work horses only ever needed general maintenance money spending on them and really reliable. When the time comes I'll probably replace this one with another.

harriethoyle · 01/03/2026 19:38

We’re considering this at the moment and veering towards a Volvo XC40 - a colleague is evangelical about their reliability. Which having had a jaguar epace which has had two serious faults in 4 years is music to my ears!

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 01/03/2026 19:44

We have two Volvos. Zero regrets.

I’d take a car back if it was that new and the clutch had gone already. That’s ridiculous.

Ohhhh ouch! Yeah I’d not be impressed. Mine’s just done 14k miles and running well (touch wood). Although some twat has keyed the whole of the drivers side …

We have. Ford said it was driver error and not covered by warrenty
Would not budge.
As i have been driving 40 years and never needed a new clutch, i am fairly sure it's not me.
Currently with ombudsman.

Duffybearblue · 01/03/2026 20:02

skoda kodiaq, the build quality and reliability of skodas is excellent

Monthlymonster · 01/03/2026 20:03

A Skoda Kodiaq or Enyaq if happy to go electric

ClassicalQueen · 01/03/2026 20:05

I’d go for the Tiguan or XC40. I wouldn’t touch the Chinese SUV’s, I imagine the value will drop pretty sharply judging by the resale value on a used one with low mileage. There are also several insurers refusing to insure them. Having driven both the Tiguan and the XC40 before, they’re lovely cars and reliable.

crazeekat · 01/03/2026 20:07

8 year old Kia shortage not had a
bit of bother with it. Sails thru mot’s, good reliable motor.

obliviate24 · 01/03/2026 20:09

I love my Tiguan but size wise isnt the best. Ive got a double pram (not the side by side) and nothing else fits in the boot. 2 rear face car seat and my middle seat disappears!

DeathBanana · 01/03/2026 20:10

Honda crv

Butthechildrentheylovethebooks · 01/03/2026 20:15

I had 3 Tucsons and highly recommend. So comfortable and loads of room without being crazy big.

VividDeer · 01/03/2026 20:17

Mazda very reliable

rumred · 01/03/2026 20:20
