Are all car insurance companies online now?

So we are looking for a new car insurance company having been completely disillusioned with our current one… however it looks like most of them are now online only and if you want to communicate with a human being you can only do it via ‘live chat’ & can only speak to someone if you are making a new claim? Does anyone have experience of dealing with a company that actually communicates on the phone?

I can only talk about my experience but I spoke to a real person at Direct Line when I renewed my car insurance. You do have to be patient though because it takes a while to get through.

@Willowkins interesting! I may try to call them tomorrow to see if they can let me know how much they can do over the phone…so far the only company I’ve found is NFU Mutual…

Yes I do. I insure my car with the Nfu and have done for many years now. They may not always be the cheapest but you can go in person by phone. They are exceptionally easy to deal with and do not line for changes to a policy or for paying by monthly instalments. As a mutual society I like the fact that my premiums don't line shareholders pockets as the customer is the shareholder.

You could try ringing a broker? A lot of them are independent and phone based?
