Hybrid car - Toyota CHR, Yaris Cross or Hyundai Kona

Have a 14 year old Toyota Verso, good reliable 5/7 seater that is at the end of its days we think.
Will do mostly city driving with the occasional motorway drive, about 5000 miles/year so looking at petrol hybrid (not plug in).
The CHR felt a bit cramped and am going to try to have a look at the Yaris Cross and Kona.
Prefer not to spend more than about £16k cash.
What's your experience of any of these cars?

I have a Yaris Cross hybrid and have to say, now I've got used to all the (mostly unnecessary and ignorable) bells & whistles, beeps & buttons, I quite like it, I drove a Kia Venga before. It's only a 5 seater though and I was a bit disappointed with the amount of leg room in the back (but then, we are a very tall family) and the boot isn't massive due to the hybrid stuff, but it's big enough. It's a nice, easily manoeuverable vehicle with a decent vroom to it! Haven't driven a Kona or CHR though, so can't help with the compare. I would say it's definitely worth a trip to the dealership to give it a try though.

Will have a look at the yaris cross @TwinklyWrinkly . They seem to hold their value reasonably well too so if we bought a 3 year old one we might look to sell on after 3 years for a newer car.
We usually just keep a car for as long as possible, over 10 years for the current one, but are re-thinking if this makes sense.

Have a look at the Honda HRV, I found the Toyota CHR very low roofed and dark inside by comparison.

I've only done a test drive in a CHR and loved the higher driving position but the tailgate is very slanted so boot not that usable for a big dog. Yaris cross is squarer. Parents have one and love it. Im on a 16 plate Yaris hybrid and its been trouble free but I need something a big bigger now. Can't quite run to a RAV4 but if funds allowed that would be my choice.
