I'm trying to collect information about issues with VW GPS/Navigation.
The vehicle's satnav has never worked on our 2018 Passat, which is fine. I wanted to use Waze anyway. We paid for ApplePlay to be installed, but immediately ran into problems.
When I plug my phone in, my phone's navigation loses GPS signal. It puts me in the middle of a lake, doesn't pick up my speed, and gets very confused. Sometimes it will work for a little while, but will always get lost in the end.
It's been really difficult for me; I've been lost in London with the children, had to repeatedly pull over to manually look up my route.
I was fobbed off by the dealership, who said it was my phone that was the problem, and said there was definitely nothing wrong with the car.
I've since discovered that it is not my phone. It's a widespread issue with VW. Anyone who plugs their phone into our car will lose their GPS for the journey. There are countless Reddit threads going back years about this issue. I told this to the dealership and they said they'd never heard of this before and they'd get back to me.
They never did, and I'm now scoping out the possibility of submitting any evidence I can collect to a law firm that specialises in automotive group litigation orders.
If you've had an issue with your VW's navigation, please can you post:
