My first incident

Hey all!
Today I was driving very slowly by the busy and very narrow high street. Both sides of the road were parked and the bus was driving towards me. I turned a bit to the left and heard the sound of my mirror folding in. I stopped around the corner, looked at the mirror - almost nothing, the paint is a bit more matte maybe, but definitely not a scratch. I returned to the area where it happened (I think the car I touched was a transporter) and couldn’t notice anything.
So I reported it to the police just in case but I didn’t report it to the insurance company.
I still have no idea how it could have happened. The car’s sensors were silent. I got my license more than 10 years ago and that’s my first incident ever.
How long do you think I should wait to find out if the affected car reports anything? How will I be contacted? By who? Insurance or police?
