Something like this would be a great family car. Go on auto trader and set all the criteria and see what comes up. With your criteria I found this one - not sure re geography for you though.

you don’t have to worry about dc swinging doors and fords aren’t crazy money to repair usually ime.

I'd also have a look at the newest/lowest mileage/ Full service history mark 7 or 7.5 VW automatic golf you can get for that money. The spec on those cars was ahead of the time when they came out in 2014 and were updated in 2017 and they do everything you need very well and are better made than the mark 8 and lovely to drive.

Consider a Dacia Duster for no frills practicality and will get you into a relatively new vehicle.

If you look at Ford's avoid the ecoboost engines with wet belt failure issues at all costs.
