Where do you hide a car tracker?

Just that really. Where in your car can you suggest putting a tile / electronic tracker that can't easily be found and removed if your car is stolen?
Do car thieves have some sort of electronic device to help them find trackers? or can you outsmart them?

It depends on what kind of tracker you’re using. The pros hide them all over the place. If you’re planning to use something like an air tag then I wouldn’t bother, they’ll be alerted to it and it will make noise. It will be found easily.

I use these guys:

smartrack.uk.net

You can disable the speaker though

That’s true but any nearby apple phone will be notified. It’s not hard to keep a stolen car away from phones. Better off with a proper tracker or don’t bother.

My car was stolen and I had an air tag hidden in the seat. If the tag is hard to find and it alerts on the phone of the thief, then it scares them off. In my case I tracked the car.

Calmdownpeople · 29/05/2025 17:42

Yeah but some thieves have devices that can find the tag and remove it. Happens for me. And also the connected service for my car - my app still says my car is sitting on my drive 😂

Thanks for your comments everyone. I don't have apple tags, they are tile trackers.

Tile trackers are great but they don’t give you real time tracking and they only alert when near another tile user. So their use is really limited - as dh found when his wallet got nicked.

trackers nano tracker is good, halfords sell them or they can be bought directly. They are also thatcham approved.
however yes, thieves have devices to find them and disable them. You can only do what you can do
