What are the safest family cars for daily school runs and weekend trips?

Hi everyone,
I’m looking to buy a new family car that’s safe, reliable, and comfortable for daily school runs and weekend outings. It should have good child safety features, enough space for car seats, and decent fuel efficiency. Any recommendations or personal experiences would be really helpful.

Volvo

We've had Skoda Octavias for years for these reasons.

Volvo- xc40 is very popular. If you have a tighter budget a V40 is another option .

Another vote for Volvo here. We have an xc60.

I don't think Volvo can be beaten for driver and passenger safety. Look at an xc40, xc60 and whilst estates aren't as popular these days the V60 is lovely thing and can be well priced as a used car. If I was involved in car crash I'd want to be in a Volvo.

Skoda octavia, karoq and Kodiaq are immensely practical solid family cars too with good safety ratings.

I don't think it's a coincidence that a lot police forces use Volvos as Traffic cars and Skodas for Patrol vehicles.

Having watched my family walk away from a serious motorway crash from a Volvo V40, I went out the same day and bought a Volvo V70.

Having said that, the most important safety feature in any car is the driver....Hoping you safe miles...

I feel really safe in my Volvo V70.
my Mum bought her first Volvo following a car accident (black ice, her and young me in a fiesta, head on collision with a Volvo - Mum broker her neck, arm & leg, I had bad bruising and concussion - Volvo driver got out without any injuries).
never looked back.
VW/Skoda/Seat (all VAG group) and Audi also all very good.
