Dealership not sent logbook

Hi all, don’t know if anyone can advise…

We bought a car back in feb from an independent car dealership.

Despite our persistent requests, we still haven’t received the logbook.

I spoke on the phone a month ago and they said it had been sent that weekend.

I’m not sure how to proceed, as they are not replying to me chasing them.

Any advice?

Are they saying that they have sent it in the post and it’s now lost?

Last communication with them on 7th April, they said it had been sent and we would get it that week 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yes, I would be too. You are supposed to contact the DVLA after a month I think, because without the logbook the car could have been stolen. How have you taxed it?

You need to go through the replacement V5C process with DVLA. If you have the green slip from when you bought the car I think the service is free, otherwise you have to pay £25. They will write out to the previous registered keeper first and then if no reply will send you the new doc with you as the RK.

@Shade17 thank you, yes I have printed and filled the form this evening after speaking to the DVLA.

@PansyPottering car was taxed and insured before we left the show room. Not sure if the process, it was all taking so long I left my husband in there to sort it.

Update: after sending a scathing message yesterday, I’ve had an email notification this morning from the DVLA that the dealership has finally done it.
