I need a new car. Need a 5 door, doesn’t need to be particularly big but needs to fit 2 car seats in back and buggy in boot. Won’t be taking it on any long drives, mostly around local area, 30 mins max day to day. Looking at approved used models, don’t want to spend more than around £10K.

Any ideas or recommendations, if you have a car you love? I’m hopeless at this kind of thing.

Quashqui would fit the bill. Whatever you buy don’t buy a diesel if you are only going to do short trips.

Can’t fault my 10yo civic which would tick all your boxes. Bulletproof reliability, at least that’s my experience at nearly 100k miles- not a single fault or failure yet, touch wood.
Huge boot too, reasonably fun to drive as well.

I don't know much about cars but my Dad always says buy a German or Japanese car as they are best engineers and thus most reliable cars. I brought a VW Polo brand new in 2014 got nearly 100k on the clock and except for one broken handbrake it's had no breakdowns and always flown through it's Mots and services.

A toyota Yaris or Honda Jazz might suit you OP and both are very reliable

I'd avoid Nissan. So unreliable!
