I'm looking to buy a used car from a local dealer. It's a 2013 reg mini.
Would anyone recommend getting the AA do do a full check on it first?

Hi there
Ive never used the aa to check a car before.
Just checking that you know that you can go on government website and check all the cars mots which can give you an idea of whether it has been looked after etc and if there have been any issues with the car. You say a local garage ? Is it a chain ie like evans halshaw etc or a one man band. Is there any warranty on the car already. I love the look of minis but have never driven one. I have heard they are expensive to service /repair but dont know if that is actually correct !

Rival services such as click mechanic will do it for Half the price of the AA. Would be worth it fir a car of that age

I've just had a full AA check on a car I'm purchasing. It was extremely thorough and highlighted a few issues which the garage has rectified. The AA engineer called me after the check (and test drive) to give feedback and then emailed the report (14 pages with photos and a video link to show the issues). I am so pleased I did this, even though I was a bit disappointed that he'd found problems. I should mention that the car I'm buying (being delivered this afternoon) is several years old but only has 16,000 miles on the clock and to the untrained eye looks perfect.

Did it several years ago, bought the car and then the head gasket blew after a month.

I wouldn’t touch a MINI of that generation with a barge pole, they’re notorious for some quite serious problems.
