CMax salvage?

Our Ford CMax is in a critical condition. The steering column was replaced 6 weeks ago but we couldn't afford a brand new one so got a refurbed one instead. Big mistake. The steering has failed again. Car is 10 years old and, other than the steering, in pretty good nick.

I think our only option now is to cut our losses, get rid and buy a different car.

Anyone know a reputable dealer who'd buy it for salvage? Think it's too good to just sell for scrap 😭

Dealers tend to send every trade-in over a certain age to auction so they are unlikely to buy a non-runner. Do you have any of the car auction companies near you? If so, find out if they sell on behalf of private individuals.
Co-part is also worth contacting. We had a car which was an MOT write off (the alternator had failed and it was overcharging the battery which leaked all over the engine bay and rotted the chassis). We contacted a scrap yard but they wanted paid to take it away. Co-part gave us something for the car and auctioned it; some time later we were in St Andrews on holiday and I ended up parked next to it so someone had obviously bought it and replaced the rotten pieces of chassis.

Stick it on eBay with a detailed and accurate description. Someone will buy it.
