Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV or Subaru Forester?

Considering both of the above (second hand). We live very rurally, do a fair amount of local journeys on single lane muddy roads, hills, etc. Two car seats to fit in and we need decent boot space. Safety is important to us as we have little ones.

Any experiences? What would you go for? Thanks!

Sadly I can’t find any Skodas anywhere near us and I think we do need to try before we buy.

@Daffodils9 We went 100 miles from home to get the car we wanted recently. When spending money I think it does matter.

I think just looking at the Outlander review would really give me a shove to look at an alternative,

Okay we saw a used Xc40 today and I think that’s going to win out. Not as much space but enough. Costs more but it’s low mileage and fingers crossed will run a long time.
I still actually loved driving the Subaru and continue to have a soft spot for it but we’ve got to be sensible.
I was hoping we could get at least a hybrid but that’s out of our price range with Volvo.

Towing trailers well within the towing ability, a few times a year, less than 100 miles a time probably. Not expecting the towing to happen on the battery. That's just for tien driving.
