Omg what have they done?!

They'll go under in a matter of months I think!

It's not a spoof, but it's a concept car, so everything is slightly exaggerated.

The camouflaged one driving around Warwickshire is the 'real' one.

It's not, this is the camouflaged one

Lol oh man..

Among all the world's issues this really does not feature high on my list of "things to loose mind over". As some people who know more about this said it is a high risk strategy to make an advert like this at this stage of Jaguar's history, they should focus on modernising their dated car models. What the advert did tho was to get everyone talking about the brand. If Farage wanted for Jaguar to go broke he should not have ranted about it on national media. What Jaguar does with this remains to be seen.

No one is losing their mind. But way to try and quash people having a pretty normal conversation.

No-one had lost their mind over this - at least, not on this forum. There’s been a thread about it, people have posted - they’ve also posted about other things on other threads because they’re able to hold multiple views on multiple topics. The wonders of the human brain.

Is there really such a big market for a car designed to signal that the owner is "queer"? 🤔

Spending so much money on something that is likely to become a target seems crazy.

And how many of them could afford it? Whenever I've come across the type of person who wants to signal that they're queer they mostly seem to work in the arts or the third sector and have fuck all money.

I know that the gay dollar is definitely a thing but I can't imagine lesbian women choosing a car like that. So that probably just leaves gay men and probably just a certain subset of them will want something so flamboyant.

Seems like a crazy risk to me to cut down your market so narrowly.

There are several youtube videos available now. Jaguar had invited a number of Youtubers to view the car several weeks ago (way before that advert).

Here is one of those videos by a Youtuber that I am subscribed to. He had a walk around and look inside the car:

It looks like they're getting rid of all the Jaguar dealerships and then they're going to open a new one in Paris and then London.

He suggested that Jaguar may be looking at their new car as sort of a cut price version of the electric Rolls Royce Spectre. That costs £330k, the new Jaguar is said to be going to be around £120k

It's the tone of voice for me. It's genuinely awful. With every comment they reply to they seem more unhinged.

I can imagine the sheer amount of hours they spent working on a tone of voice model which they're for sure adhering to, but it's coming off as absolute denial and tone deafness now.

I can't shake the feeling I am looking at a Lego car. I think it's the lack of a front grill. It's got as much style as a boxer's glove.

On the plus side, I now understand the colours, implied violence and miserable models in the ad.

BuzzieLittleBee · 03/12/2024 10:18

@GargoylesofBeelzebub I presume you're being deliberately obtuse? Of course their target market is not "queer".

jaguar2024 · 03/12/2024 11:18

I sent it to my dad (who was a service manager years ago) and got "that's a Bentley with an Audi front" Grin

They’ve gone too far and now they are just crossing everything and hoping to all the gods that the product is so good that it cancels out the shit rebranding exercise.

I really hope it does otherwise jobs and livelihoods will be lost.

I agree with last line. It fits. In a clunky dour kind of way

Whether they can get custom out of that I guess we'll see
