SMP & Carers allowance?

Sleeponit · 22/01/2025 14:33

So I am due to go on maternity leave in April and have been told I will be eligible for SMP through the company. I have never earnt over £151pw.

Will I be able to claim my SMP & carers allowance at the same time?

Thank you

SMP shouldn't affect carers allowance
If it was MA then it would.

Statutory Maternity Pay (SMP) is paid for up to 39 weeks. You get:

  • 90% of your average weekly earnings (before tax) for the first 6 weeks
  • £184.03 or 90% of your average weekly earnings (whichever is lower) for the next 33 weeks
