Work life balance

So I've been struggling to come to terms with my maternity leave ending and with the thought of returning to work and doing 12 hour shifts. I had been looking for part time work instead, a few hours each day. I'm a single parent and this job would suit alot better as my eldest child can attend the work place id be going to so I'd not need to worry about that. I'd just need my youngest looked after for a few hours per week. I'd be off again for Christmas and public holidays. With respect to wages I'd actually break even still as my wage and benefits together would work out the same so I'd not be losing money overall. I feel I'd cope better with this and so would my youngest. The work life balance would be so much better and I wouldn't be as exhausted after shifts either. I'd get some school holidays off also. I feel the pros out weigh the cons in this job. Just the issue is potentially having to pay back my maternity pay as I'd not be returning for three months. My circumstances have change and the 12 hour shifts just aint possible. This opportunity is here now and I don't want to lose that.
