Hi everyone looking for some advice. I currently work for the NHS..I was full time but cut my hours down to part time. I thought doing so would keep me happier and work round my children better. However currently due to come to the end of my maternity leave and I've seen two part time jobs, mon-fri. Few hours per day. I'd get all the public/bank holidays off again..like Xmas and new year. Something I cant get at nhs that really bothers me as I don't want to miss these special occasions anymore than I already have. If i stay were i am its 12 hour shifts. 2 long days and i need to take my share of working xmas and that. My questions are...

Has anyone left the nhs at end of their maternity and been made to pay back their maternity pay?

Do you think 5, 4 hour shifts would give better work life balance?

Thank you.

I think it depends what work / hours / flexibility your partner has.

Working 12 hour shifts if you were responsible alone, leaves you stuck for childcare. If your partner is able to pick up from childcare, then I'd far rather work the 2 long days and have more time with my little one than having to use childcare 5 days a week.
