Would I be able to claim carers allowance even though I study 20 hours per week and work 12 hours? Ty

I think you have to be able to care for 33 hours per week

Ratfinkstinkypink · 17/11/2023 19:33

You need to act in a caring role for 35 hours a week or more and earn no more than £139 a week.

Jellyfishxx · 17/11/2023 19:35

I do care for 35 hours per week. But I also study for 20 hours and earn £90 per week from part time work, Ty for your reply

You can earn up to £139 on cares allowance, as long as you’re providing 33+ hours a week care then you can claim it.

Jellyfishxx · 17/11/2023 19:48

Ty, there was definitive answer due to me being in college and part time working, I’ll submit the claim and see what they say ty for reply

It's 35 hours or more, not 33.

This morning i got a letter saying that i can get carers allowance. Does anyone know how long after getting this letter i will get paid? Thank you xx

Babyroobs · 02/12/2023 09:28

Full time students cannot claim carers allowance. i assume at 20 hours a week your course counts as full time.

vidflex · 02/12/2023 09:38

We tried for my dd to claim carers for me as she looks after me over 35 hours a week. We were turned down as she's doing a full time university course. It's a bit bonkers as she still cares for me for 35 hours around her course. She's only actually physically in uni two days then a day online.

Jellyfishxx · 02/12/2023 13:18

It says online 20 hours or below to claim, I have submitted the claim just waiting to hear, not sure how long the wait is
