Booster seats for a 3.10 yr old at 15kgs

I am getting confused.
We don't drive and grandma is the only person who very occasionally drives the DDs around.
DD1 is 11 and taller than 135 cm so she just has the seat belt.
DD2 uses a booster seat. She is 5 and 20 kgs.
DD3 is as stated above and I would like to put her into a booster. Is this ok or not?

yes depending on how tall need to check that the belt sits on her.

Ok have been searching more and am thinking now that I really need to have the younger two in high back boosters?

I happened to see the fire brigade had a display outside the library about this. They recommend that you keep them in a high back seat with point harness as long as possible. Your dd3 is well within the limits of a 5 point harness seat.

What is she in when grandma drives her round?

Also for dd2 - check the fit of he seatbelt over her hips, that is the most important bit according to fireman.

If the trips are only really very occasional and not long distances, I would say stick to dd2 in ordinary booster.

Trips are only occasional but the journey to grandmas for instance is a two hour one.
DD3 is in a Britax Eclipse just now but she is getting cramped in it. I will keep her in that over the summer I think if she goes to visit as it also reclines [am going to check her height in it]. She still falls asleep.

That is a good seat. And comfy for sleeping in, much more than an ordinary booster.

FWIW fireman said to look at the Britax logo which is in middle of headrest. If the middle of the back of her head is level with that then fine, otherwise she is too big for it. He said height more of an indicator than weight, too.

Do you know anyone else with a high back booster and possibly a younger child, you could swap seats.... my SiL and I have done this.

Maybe but another factor is that the Eclipse was bought about 10 years ago for my eldest daughter and has been used now by all three. I wouldn't want to pass it on tbh as it's quite old.

Have just asked her to get into the seat, in the cupboard! Come here dearest and just go into the cupboard haha!
Anyway the middle of the back of her head is on the label so ok.
It will do her for another summer trip.

I think you are being v sensible.
Fair dos on not passing it on, you got some value from it then.

a carseat has a 'use-by' age of about 5-6yrs,after which they are not as safe due to the ageing of the plastic / polystyrene,personally i would buy her a new seat and cut the straps of the eclipse and bin it.

i would also have the youngest 2 in highbacked boosters.
a basic booster only positions the seatbelt correctly,it offers no protection in an accident,and personally i would only use one in an emergency.
my 2 older kids are 4 and 6 and are both in britax hi-liner seats (£45 each from halfords), they are fab seats,good side-impact protection,very comfy and a good supportive headrest for if they fall asleep.
my baby is in a britax eclipse,so good to know yours has lasted well

We are resisting our DD's wails to let her go in a normal booster seat like all her friends (you need to say that in a really whiny voice, several times to get the full effect).

IMO the longer they are in the high backed booster, the better.

I can highly recommend the Cybex as the headrest reclines for longer journeys.

Just bought the Cybex here for DD2. DP and his mother will think it totally unecessary but I will be happier.
