Hello,

I don't have a car at the moment, and not sure if I will get one when I have the baby.

I need to know if there is a travel system that includes a car seat which can be switched to fit any car, just using the normal seatbelt.

If so, I can just use that part of travel system to travel by train to parents' or friends', and then put the baby straight into their car.

I'd be grateful if anyone has any recommendations!

The car seat/pushchair/carrycot thing that I got was made my Hauck, and I love it.

The car seat is fitted with just the seat belt (not lap belt, though, that's not safe)

Mine was like this ish! I think it's quite good for what you asked for, as the pushchair itself is suitable from birth as well, so you could travel on the train with baby in car seat, but when out and about (if staying at parents, etc) baby doesn't have to be scrunched up in car seat all the time.

I don't think any infant seats can use just the lap belt, they need a 3 point belt or click onto a base fixed into the car via seat belt or isofix. Most of the major brands (Maxi Cosi, Britax etc) are a "universal" fit and fix onto a chassis/pushchair with relevant adapters, but their security in a car can vary accoridng to shape of the seat etc.

The Maxi Cosi cabriofix can be attached using an isofix base, a non-isofix base or just a normal seatbelt.

We'll be using it in my car with the non-isofix base and in DH's with just the seatbelt.

If you go on their website you can check which cars it will fit into - I think it's quite universal.

Sorry, I meant normal 3 point seat belt. I don't want one that needs a separate base, as that would just be something else to lug around with me!

Thanks, I get it now - you get a travel systenm and buy a compatible car seat to go with it!

the graco car seat ( junior) will definitely can go in with a lap belt and the logic may do can't find out. you can put it in without a base but not with a lap belt.It also goes on a few pushchairs. Both of the carseat bases can fold so you could take it in a suit car of buy it up the the first time you go.

The graco rearfacing one up to age 4....called the KISS in the uk, which is also sold under the name Atko Graco Duologic II

It is so well thought through...

from newborn the seat part comes out, has it's own set of wheels on the bottom, and extendable handle like a suitcase, so you can pull it short distances. It also fits onto a graco pushchair, and it can be fitted on it's onw in the car, or on top of the base which can be isofix, or fitted by a seat belt or a lap belt It's fab

Someone else posted this link where you can get them (I had to import mine from Sweden!)www.incarsafetycentre.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/30/products_id/54?osCsid=f g91sbkkgpkjqucvjcp9sera07

It will then keep your little one rearfacing until at least 3 or 4 (which is now accepted as 5 times safer than turning them forward facing at this age).

It can be belt fitted (3 or 2 point) or isofix, so fits in pretty much any car, is very easy to fit....

....and best of all, is one of one 3 seats (the besafe ones being the others) to pass the extremely stringent swedish Plus safety test- so is a world leading in safety

I love mine I'm in Devon if anyone wants to test mine out in their car (I've also got a besafe belt fitted rearfacing seat too, if anyone wants to compare the two, before buying )
