Anyone got a Xsara picasso and maxi-cosi carseats?

I had DD2 6 weeks ago and thought I would manage both dc in my corsa but I am really struggling to get the double buggy in the boot, so looking at buying a Xsara Picasso. Only problem is we chose our car seats based on getting good reviews re safety so have a Maxi-Cosi cabriofix and a priorifix, both of which have legs as part of the base. The maxi-cosi website doesn't have information on whether these seats fit so I googled it. It looks like some people have had problems with these seats in a Picasso because the leg would rest on a storage box on the floor but I am unclear whether this is just older models. I am looking at getting a car that is about 3 years old. Can anyone tell me if the newer models still have the storage box on the floor?

Thanks very much.

Think they do but I do not think it affects the car seat it just means you can not get in the storage box. I had a Britax seat in the back of mine with one of those bases. I do not use the storage compartments anyway! Mine is a 54 plate and I used to have an X reg. The X reg had the storage compartments aswell.

Thanks coolkat . Does the leg sit securely on top of the box then?

You shouldn't rest the leg on top of the storage box as this would compromise the safety of the car seat if you had an accident.

I've been researching the Maxi-cosi for this baby, and the Which guide says the bases are unsafe to use on a storage compartment.

Ok, thanks. Does anyone know if all Picassos have these storage boxes?

I just had a look at the website and it for some things its says 'in some models' but for the floor storage it doesn't which to me implies they are in all models.
Hope that mkes sense!

Thanks notso. Just rang our local dealer and they said they all have the storage boxes. Gutting as now will have to rethink what car to buy as I can't get get new carseats (these ones cost about £400 and cabriofix fits on my buggy base)

most people carriers have underfloor stoarge! my renault scenic had them-but i wouldn't recommend that for other reasons!!

could you not use the cabrio without the base and then just buy another stage 1 car seat if you had your mind set on this car?

I think the Cabrio only gets the good safety rating because of the Isofix base, nicm. Its a minefield trying to find a safe car/ carseat combination, it seems! I didnt know most people carriers have the underfloor storage. I will have to look into cars with big boots instead
