looking for an infant carrier seat with weight <3kgs - any suggestions please?

We found one we really like today but sadly it is out of stock in store and online - mothercare travel tot infant carrier. I'm due in 4 weeks and doubt it will be back in stock by then so I'm wondering if anyone can suggest where I can buy a similar type of infant carrier that is light-weight(the one we saw was 2.55kg), preferrably not Isofix and doesn't have to be part of a travel system.

got one at an independent retailer today at £40 so even better than Mothercare one.

why does it need to be lightweight?

it isn't being used as part of a travel system, it is only going to be in the car most of the time until the baby is old enough to use his brother's car seat. On the odd occasion that I do need to take the baby out in the infant carrier, I don't want to be lugging a huge weight around plus keeping tabs on a toddler at the same time, so I'd prefer it to be lightweight for all the time it will be getting used thisisyesterday.

they are all safe infant carriers, they all go through the safe level of testing before being put out onto the market. If the lighter ones weren't safe they wouldn't be being sold in the shops. I did consider this when looking around but it was pointed out by various people that shops cannot sell products that are dangerous. It is a bonus they now sell lightweight infant carriers for those who don't rely on them very often, saves spending an absolute fortune on something that will hardly be used in the grand scheme of things.

well, there's the minimum safety limit and there are also many that far exceed this!

all i am saying is that if it were me i would go for the safest one available that's all.

does the most expensive types that are heavy necessarily mean the safest infant carriers though? that's the point I'm making. Not everyone wants to lug around a heavy infant carrier (and there's also the weight of the actual baby to consider aswell!). It's all down to lifestyle and personal choice.

As I said before, it will be kept secured into the car for most of the time. I just see it as a stop gap until DS1 outgrows his current car seat, then DS2 will be using the next one up. We didn't see the point in buying two lots of the same type of seat for such a short space of time that DS1 will be using his before moving onto a booster type seat.
