Hello, I've been searching the internet for advice on car seats and was looking for some help.
I'm getting a new car on Saturday which has airbags in the rear above the doors, I currently have my 4 month old son in a rear facing car seat and I'm not sure if it safe to put him in the back with these airbags. They cant be deactivated in the back, only the front but I think its safer having him in the back. Please help, I cant find any solid information on this. The car is fitted with isofix in the back which is fine for front facing but I'm still not sure about having the car seat rear facing. Thanks Louise.

side airbags are fine and do not affect the seat. the only real issue is the frontal airbags. you can contact the essex car seat ladies or the in car safety centre if you would like to talk to a professional! their contact details are on www.rearfacing.co.uk hth

hi, we also have these (in our volvo) and in the handbook it says they are fine with use with a rearfacing seat.

i think it may have had a recommended distance away that you should keep between the seat and the side of the car or soemthing, but can't remmeber exactly (i could be making it up!)

Have you got a 3-point seatbelt in the middle seat in the back? This is the safest position for a baby carseat anyway and would eliminate the worry about side airbags (although it sounds as though they are fine)
