Car seat straps - help

we have the maxi cosi pearl 360 - baby doesn’t like the car seat and cries most of the time which is super stressful. We were using the maxi cosi pebble but I changed it in the hope it would help. The problem I have is the crotch strap or the straps going over his thighs. It looks like it’s uncomfortable and I have tried and tried but can’t find a way to fix this issue. I have looked on the manual too. Does anyone know how to fix this please? I don’t think it will make him like being in the car seat anymore but at least I will know he’s comfortable and it’s fitted correctly. Thanks

I have both these car seats and the straps sit higher up on my kids. I do think I wouldn’t have got a good fit in the Pearl until they were bigger though, so stuck with the Pebble until they were 1 and 15m.

How old is your baby and do they still need the newborn insert? As its only until 60cm so about 3m for an average baby. It sort of looks like if you removed that, the straps would sit in a better place, but obviously if the baby is under the height requirement then you would need to keep the insert.

Do they fit better th the Pebble?

Could you drive your car to a car seat fitting station and have them look the seat over for if you have the shoulder straps leaving the back high enough, if you need a further strap that keeps the shoulder straps from slipping outwards, if they can adjust the crotch strap to be longer and whether the seat is the correct size for your baby. I found the fitting stations to be very helpful.

I’d urge you to take the seat+car+child+instructions to Halfords\John Lewis who both sell this seat tmrw and see if they will advise you. The placement of the hip/crotch straps looks all wrong to me, appears too low thus constraining the child’s thighs. See the from the John Lewis review of same seat - 2nd pic

Have you re-read the instructions/ viewed the link on the QR code from the label on the seat?

Contact maxi cosy / shop where you purchased the seat, urgently.

Thank you for the responses. Baby is 11 weeks old. The Pearl says suitable from birth with the insert which I have. Will change him back to the Pebble today. Have contacted Maxi Cosi & Mammas & Papas. Will take it in for a safety check start of next week.
