Car seat recommendations for a tall nearly 4 year old outgrowing current seat

DS is currently in a Joie iSpin 360 and whenever we are driving somewhere he complains constantly about back pain. He used to find the car seat very comfortable so I assume he has outgrown it. He is a high percentile child, 3 years 9 months old and weighs 19.7 kg at 107 cm, so he is above both the weight and height limits of his current seat.

Does he need a high back booster, or are there any other forward facing options? I do not want an ERF car seat, he has been FF for a while because he gets car sick and there is no going back to RF. Which car seat would you recommend for him?

I wouldn’t want to have a three year old in just a HBB. Would something like the Joie I Irvana Max work?

Joie i Irvana Max would be great. It has the 5 point harness up to 125cm and 25kg, so he will be fine in there a while. You do need top tether for it.

BTW, as he is over the weight and height limit and possibly physically too tall to get a safe fit in his current seat (make sure the headrest is extended to max), it is urgent to change the seat ASAP, as it may no longer offer the protection that it should in an accident.

Thank you both, this looks like the perfect solution. I agree DS can’t continue to use his current carseat so I’ll be buying him a new one today.
