Holiday car seat for tall 4 year old?

Would a tall 4 year old (projected height 105-108cm) be safe in a HBB seat on holiday? She would still be ERF at home but her seat is not portable at all. I don’t know of many travel friendly seats that would fit her and don’t want to buy a new seat for a single 1 week holiday. If I brought a HBB we could keep it until she is ready to use it at home.

Safe is relative.. she would be safer than nothing, but not as safe as rear facing. She would be safer not driving on holiday at all etc.

Only you can judge what degree of risk is acceptable. Personally for one week I'd be fine with it.

If your 4yo can sit reliably in a HBB then there's no evidence showing that they are unsafe at this age, so it would make sense to look at this as a solution. Cybex have some folding ones which get good safety ratings.

If you did want to secure an ERF seat for them and your holiday is in Spain, Germany, Sweden or possibly other places, it might be possible to rent an ERF seat at your destination. Spain has the Klippan network and their term for ERF is "Contramarcha", Germany has a network of stores under "Kindersitzprofis" and their term for ERF is "Reboarder"
