360 inserts /wedge confusing!

Hi all

we have the Joie 360 and my nearly 1 year old (approx 19lb) has had a couple of short test runs. When I was fitting her I found that the wedge on its own was bringing her forward so much, that the buckle was really low down and I know that's a sign they don't need it. She seems very comfy without and fell asleep in one journey, no sign of her head flopping forward etc. however there's quite alot of room either side of her and I don't know if that's a safety concern. I was wondering if anyone had used the insert to pad them out at the sides, but not used the wedge? As I know the wedge is supposed to be last thing to come out and she's not exactly big for her age. It just didn't look, or clearly feel right for her with it in.

That is quite a typical pattern. I have heard if you send photos to Joie they will advise you personally on what inserts to use and occasionally people say they have said they can use the body insert on its own.

Officially, you can't use the body insert without the wedge. I believe the wedge is meant to be used up to 9kg minimum (which she would be just under) but don't take my word for it as that is not written in the manual.

One thing you can try is with the wedge, try moving the headrest up and sort of sitting her slightly higher in the seat, see if that looks any better. But if you get a snug fit with the straps and no head flop, I think it doesn't matter too much if there is space around her waist.

Great thank you. She looks very secure and snug to me once straps are on and tightened but that space just looks like it would be advised against!
