How to make baby like the car seat?

My 4 month old screams the second she is in the car seat and will cry for the whole car journey, no matter how long it is.
i remember my eldest child doing the same but cannot remember when it stopped.

does anyone have any tips to stop the crying? It honestly sends me insane and im not sure how much longer I can cope with the car rides!!

I have the bugaboo turtle car seat, wondering if the car seat could be the issue? Although she seems fine when out of the car!? Argh - any advice would be great!

Have you tried putting her in the seat when it's out of the car, in the lounge or something?

I sympathise, we had this for quite some time. Can you disable the passenger seat airbag and put your car seat on the passenger seat so she can see you?

We had this, it really hinderred how far I was comfortable travelling. Not certain how long but It did last quite a while, i know it was starting to improve between 1 year and 18 months.

Oh I hated this stage. My DS did this from a few weeks old until he turned 3.5 months old. Every single journey was almost constant crying unless he tired himself out. We stopped lots of times of course and he was absolutely fine at the service station or when out of the car seat but during the journey nothing helped.

At 3.5 months old we switched from a cosatto giggle (that my brother gave us) to a cybex aton (that a close friend gave us) and maybe it was coincidence but he did stop crying the day he went into that seat. The other difference was the cosatto was a seat belt and the Aton was isofix. Well in my car it was, in DH’s car we used the seatbelt. Maybe it was the angle since the isofix determined that whereas with the seatbelt I guess we positioned it? Not sure really. I switched because I needed the isofix to save my sanity with the ease of in/out. The bonus was he changed from crying to mostly sleeping during journeys.

We now have a cybex cloud in preparation for a second baby next year and I’m praying we skip the newborn crying in the car stage. Then again after all these comments maybe it’s a stage that most go through.

Have you checked if the seat needs adjusting as she has grown? The straps can usually move up and there might be a newborn insert to remove. The instruction manual should have info about this.

Does she have a dummy? My DS always had his in the car as well as for naps and night time.
