Car seat advice needed please

Hello,
Looking for some advice please :)
I currently have the cybex cloud z car seat and z base but my son is now getting too big for it (small 21 months old). Decided not to go with the next seat up that goes on the base (Sirona) as it only goes to age 4 and is too much money for a seat that won’t be used for very long. Was hoping to find a good rear and front facing car seat that can possibly rotate and will last until he’s at least 7, budget is max £300. I have a small Aygo so nothing too chunky either. Is this a tall order? Does anyone have suggestions please? The more I look at different makes/ models and reviews the more confused I’m getting 😩 appreciate any help! Thanks!

Hi OP,
The trouble with asking for a seat which covers a number of stages is that it will be making compromises so won’t be great at them all. If your budget allows you want to look at a harnessed (ideally rear facing) seat followed by a HBB when little one is old enough.
The Axkid Minikid 2 is within your budget, RF to 25kg or 125cm. It’s a compact fit so should be ok in your Aygo, but a good independent retailer should be able to help you with this. There are cheaper Britax ERF seats, but they are much bigger and I think you’d struggle in your car.

The next stage one will go to up to average age of 4 as your child is smaller than average it will last longer.

My children are older and ff now so I don’t have any specific recommendations.

For £300 you can get rotating OR lasting up to age 7, you can't get both. There's one rotating up to 7 seat but it's about £700 once you buy the base as well.

Agreed that as your child is quite small for their age, seats will usually last longer. But the Cybex cloud is huge - is it really outgrown? If your child is outgrowing the Cybex Cloud then they are likely average/big for their age.

I think I would look at:

Britax Dualfix M Plus or Cybex Sirona Gi i-size - for a rear/front facing rotating model with slightly higher weight limit.

or Axkid Minikid 2, Britax Max Safe Pro - for a rear facing only seat which will last up to age 7+.

These are all good options for your budget.

Would add - of the seats mentioned above, the Minikid is the best option for small cars.

Avionaut Sky might be worth a look too.

If you join car seat safety on Facebook they are very knowledgeable and can recommend the safest best suited seat to your child
