New baby plus toddler car seat arrangement?

Hi!
New baby due in a few months.
At the moment, my three year old DD is in her car seat in the left hand rear passenger seat, and I sit in the right hand side passenger seat, middle seat is empty, and Dad is driving.

When new baby arrives, where is best for her carseat?
I'd like to be able to see them if possible, unsure of the legalities etc.

Thanks!

Both children in the back, mirror so you can see the baby, adults in the front.

Not better to make it so that I can sit in the back with them?

Unless you have a huge car, it will probably be quite uncomfortable to wedge yourself in between two car seats. It's probably a good idea to get them used to not having an adult immediately on hand in case you have to make journeys on your own with them. As a nanny I often drive toddlers and babies around in the backseat without another adult watching them and it works out fine.

They'll be fine in the back without you. They're safest in the back. Just to it.

I would put the baby behind the drivers seat so that the adult front passenger can lean over and help if strictly necessary.

You'll quickly find that the toddler helps the baby. They'll pass them toys and hold their hand and babble reassuringly at them. It is lovely to see.

Think about it this way... if there was only one adult, they would obviously be in the front driving!

Its fine them being in the back with you in the front.

I tended to have the baby on the drivers side so I could get toddler out on the pavement side when parking at side of roads.

You can sit in the back if you want but it will be quite uncomfortable probably.

When we first had two little ones together I put them both in the back, very strange because my first two children were 10 years apart so I sat in the back with them on our first drives home. But it felt perfectly fine and natural to put DS3 in the back when it came down to it. After giving birth sitting in a car is really not the most comfortable thing to do so at least having more space in the front helps here.

It is just different when you have two little ones. Not the same as your first. Better in many ways too :)

Baby in the back behind the driver so the person in the passenger seat can see baby and reach over if needed. You can get a special mirror so you can see baby from the drivers seat if there is no passenger.

The toddler can communicate if they have an issue.
