Is light green a bad idea for a car seat?

I think I finally decided on a car seat! I’m a FTM due in August. I want something that will last as long as possible and our baby is likely to be tall. The model I like is Britax Swivel because it’s suitable from newborn to 7 years which will give us a lot of use. I also trust this brand with their newborn suitability claims and a spin function sounds handy.

I really like this colour but how practical is it with a car seat that I intend to use for 7 years? Would something darker be better? Does anyone have this seat?

im aware of fb groups focusing on safe seats but they already accused me of breaking their rules and not caring for my unborn child’s safety because i asked a question! so im not interested in seeking their advice 🤣

It’ll show stains, but I’d rather see the mess and deal with it, than pretend it’s clean, ours only got gross when toddler had been to park. But we mostly didn’t give snacks in car so no crumbs etc, boots in the back of the car if muddy. ours was red and was easy to keep clean

If your baby is likely to be tall, bear in mind the harness in this seat can only be used up to 105cm which for a tall child will be before they turn 4. Then when they grow out of the high back booster at 125cm tall, they'll probably be only 6 or so, so you'll need another high back booster. I do like Britax seats but this is a bit of an odd one and IMO, unlikely to be that good of a buy for most people. The Dualfix Plus is better value IMO (you need the version without "M" if you want the newborn insert).

In terms of the cover colour, I've never found car seats get that dirty and they do tend to wash fairly easily, it's just a pain to get the covers on and off to wash. Light might actually be better than dark as I find the thing I wash off the seats most often is sick (sorry for TMI).

@BertieBotts thanks! But how would the dualfix plus be a better value if it’s more expensive and last only up to 4 years? Am I missing something?

Ah sorry I thought it was cheaper, it usually is. But you don't really gain any value from the Swivel having the high backed booster mode because you'll need to buy another high back booster when it's outgrown anyway.

Because the Swivel combines three modes (rear facing, forward facing, high back booster) it's likely the case that it makes more compromises compared with the Dualfix which only has two modes - rear facing and forward facing. I can't say for sure because there's no ADAC test on the Swivel yet. But in general, the more different modes a seat combines, the more compromises it has to make.
